The new devices are ultra-sensitive, very fast, with response time measured in seconds, have multiplexing capability and high specificity. The graphene in the mGFET is functionalized with specific receptors. A target analyte introduced to the sensing channel in changes the electric field in the channel. When the mGFET is paired with the Graphenea card, the system provides real-time molecular detection and recognition. Up to 260 devices can be multiplexed for simultaneous detection, and custom designs are also available.
