Project AGRARSENSE for smart agriculture

Graphenea is part of project AGRARSENSE, a 3-year undertaking to develop microelectronics, photonics, and electronic packaging for agricultural use and forestry. The project will also develop related ICT and data management to realise large scale field demonstrators for real industrial needs.

The issue of food security is growing more worrisome as security becomes influenced by a combination of factors such as climate change, vulnerable supply chains, and agricultural practices. The escalating global population and the subsequent need for increased agricultural output have underscored the necessity for creative approaches. Acknowledging this, the AGRARSENSE project, supported by the European Union, aims to foster a collaboration between major corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and research institutions to address these challenges. The focus of the project lies in the development of innovative technologies, including automated agricultural tools and enhanced sensor technology, which will enhance efficiency and safeguard the integrity of value chains. Updates on project progress will be published regularly on the new project website.

The project started on January 2023 and will last until the end of 2025. The project brings together 46 participants from several EU and associated countries, making use of more than 14 million EUR of EU contribution. The project is funded from the Horizon Europe program, under grant agreement 101095835.
