Graphene World Summit showcases graphene industry

The first Graphene World Summit, organized by Smithers Apex and co-hosted by the Graphene Stakeholders Association (GSA) took place on September 15th and 16th in Berkeley, California.

The event brought together graphene stakeholders the world over, ensuring a global network of raw material suppliers, equipment manufacturers, producers, end-users, theoretical and applied researchers, and investment experts dedicated to creating a global graphene commercial marketplace.

On behalf of Graphenea, CEO Jesus de la Fuente spoke about graphene films for LED/OLED devices in the technical section of the program. “The event was focused on the state of the industry and its dynamics, which made it very interesting. Many intelligent people were present,” exclaimed Jesus after the summit.

The first day started with progress updates from North America, the EU, and Asia, all presented by viable authorities on the subject: Keith Blakely (The InVentures Group, USA), Prof. Andrea Ferrari (Cambridge Graphene Center, UK), and Prof. Antonio Castro Neto (NUS Graphene Research Center, Singapore). The morning was completed with a session on investment strategies. The afternoon brought an exciting review of game-changing applications and commercialization success stories. The second day was filled with material development and production case studies.

The Graphene Stakeholders Association is a non-profit organization set up in 2013 to help promote the responsible development of graphene-based products. The GSA Advisory Board, which Jesus is a member of, consists of industry experts with a wide range of backgrounds, including technology gurus, investors, standardization experts and representatives of the media. The GSA aims to continue and further develop this series of events with a focus on coherent and sustainable development of the graphene industry.
