Advancing Device Performance through Precision Nanoparticle Deposition

At Graphenea, we are continually advancing the frontiers of material science. Building on our expertise in graphene-based solid-state devices, we now offer a Nanoparticle Deposition Service through a partnership with Nanostine — this high-precision solution enables the integration of nanoparticles onto device surfaces with nanometer-scale control and high material purity. This combination of graphene layers and devices with nanoparticles expands the range of use cases and applications of graphene, such as in photonics, electronics, sensing and energy. The service has been developed within the project Agrarsense.

Process Overview

The nanoparticle deposition process is carried out in collaboration with a specialized partner equipped with advanced high-vacuum growth systems. Nanoparticles are synthesized and deposited in situ, avoiding exposure to ambient contaminants and ensuring exceptional cleanliness and compositional control.

The method is non-destructive, as shown below in the Raman spectrum, preserving the integrity of sensitive device substrates such as graphene, semiconductor heterostructures, or dielectric layers. This makes it suitable for applications where maintaining surface quality and carrier mobility is critical.

Material Range and Customization

We offer a wide variety of nanoparticle materials to meet specific functional needs:

  • Metallic nanoparticles (e.g., Au, Ag, Pt, Pd, and other elements) for enhanced conductivity, plasmonic activity, or catalytic performance.
  • Oxidized nanoparticles for controlled charge transfer, dielectric modulation, or catalytic applications.
  • Core–shell nanoparticles for tailored surface chemistry, magnetic tuning, or multi-functionality.

Particle size, density, and distribution can be precisely tuned to achieve the desired surface coverage and interaction with the underlying layer.

Applications and Benefits

Integrating nanoparticles into graphene and solid-state devices allows for:

  • Increased catalytic or sensing sensitivity
  • Controlled surface reactivity and functionalization
  • Improved light absorption and emission characteristics
These capabilities enable the design of next-generation sensing devices, accelerating innovation across multiple domains.

Collaboration and Integration

We provide full technical support throughout the process, including consultation on nanoparticle selection, deposition parameters, and device integration strategies. Our aim is to deliver deposition solutions that are fully compatible with existing device fabrication workflows.
